Chalet Chamois
Chalet Chamois forms the upper two floors of a traditional Savoyard chalet in the Les Bossons ‘commune’ of Chamonix. During 2006/2007 the chalet underwent an extensive renovation program to upgrade the internal decor, fixtures and fittings. The result is a pleasing blend of contemporary design and convenience within a traditional chalet setting - a comfortable home-from-home haven for however you want to spend your time in Chamonix.
Internally the chalet has 7 beds in 3 bedrooms on two levels (see plan) and is particularly well suited for families with children or smaller groups of friends. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, built-in storage and views down the valley. The two upstairs bedrooms interconnect and comprise a large family room with double and single bed, and a twin room of two single beds.
The large triple-windowed lounge/dining kitchen has stunning unobstructed views to Mont Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi and the rest of the Massif du Mont Blanc. Accessed from the lounge via traditional french doors is a large 7/8ths balcony that extends around most of two sides of the chalet at first floor level. The fully-fitted kitchen is modern and fresh with a small utility room off. A spacious bathroom and separate wc complete the internal layout.
Externally the chalet sits on a SW facing plot of approximately 1,200m² laid mostly to lawn. There is parking for 3/4 cars and the shuttle bus to and from the ski slopes stops just 40 yards away. Access to the slopes by car is straightforward via the nearby route-national and decent supermarkets are within easy reach without having to park in the centre of town.
The family-oriented residential commune of Les Bossons is on the south-west side of Chamonix town and is relatively undiscovered and unspoiled by mainstream tourism. (Think individual chalets on their own plots rather than blocks of apartments in ‘Residences’). Courmayer is just through the Mont Blanc tunnel and Geneva Airport is just over an hour away if you’re obeying the speed limits - under an hour if you’re not.
The chalet really is a charming little place - we’re sure you’ll find it a welcoming home.
